Jesus our Hope!

So we have arrived – a new year, new possibilities, new hopes – that is what is so cool about God is that He always gives you a ‘new’ thing, no matter what it is and when we are done with this life, we even get a new body – how cool is that!

We don’t know what will happen this year, nor next for that matter.  We don’t even know what will happen tomorrow, but it doesn’t really matter, because God is there before we even get there.  He’s got everything under control – whether it is bad news or good - I was listening to Brian Doerksen’s music today … I totally LOVE that music.  Especially his song “Your Faithfulness” -  like it says:

I don't know what this day will bring
Will it be disappointing, filled with longed for things?
I don't know what tomorrow holds
Still I know I can trust Your faithfulness
I don't know if these clouds mean rain
If they do, will they pour down blessing or pain?
I don't know what the future holds
Still I know I can trust Your faithfulness
Certain as the rivers reach the sea
Certain as the sunrise in the east
I can rest in your faithfulness
Surer than a mother's tender love
Surer than the stars still shine above
I can rest in your faithfulness
I don't know how or when I'll die
Will it be a thief, or will I have a chance to say goodbye?
No, I don't know how much time is left
But in the end, I will know your faithfulness
When darkness overwhelms my soul
When thoughts and storms of doubt
Still I trust You are always faithful, always faithful
Certain as the rivers reach the sea
Certain as the sunrise in the east
I can rest in your faithfulness
Surer than a mother's tender love
Surer than the stars still shine above
I can rest in your faithfulness
I don't know what this day will bring
Will it be disappointing, filled with longed for things?
I don't know what tomorrow holds
Still I know I can trust Your faithfulness

God’s faithfulness is talked about in over 100 verses in the bible.  He is ALWAYS faithful, a keeper of His Word to His children – those who CHOOSE to believe Him, take Him at His Word, know he will care for us no matter what happens, life or death, we are still held in His hand.  And we, as His children, are to reflect His nature, as it says in Gal. 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”   I also like what Paul speaks about in chapter 3 of Romans about faithful ness.

Why am I ok with whatever happens?  Because I am just a visitor to this planet, my real home is in heaven.  This earth is temporary, no matter what the activists may say, we can’t ‘save’ it.  In the end, God is going to destroy it and make a new one.  I’m looking forward to that new world AND new body!
Brian Doerksen’s other song that I LOVE is “Hope of the Nations”:

Jesus hope of the nations
Jesus comfort for all who mourn
You are the source of Heaven's hope on earth

Jesus light in the darkness
Jesus truth in each circumstance
You are the source of Heaven's light on earth

In history You lived and died
You broke the chains You rose to life

You are the hope living in us
You are the rock in Whom we trust
You are the light
Shining for all the world to see

You rose from the dead conquering fear
Our Prince of Peace drawing us near
Jesus our hope living for all who will receive
Lord we believe

Jesus is our HOPE for ALL circumstances!
