II Peter 3:4 – I was talking with someone this past week
about living right, reading the Bible on a regular basis and about the 2nd coming of
Jesus. As soon as I started speaking
about the ‘end times’ and the ‘signs of the times’, she immediately said,
“people have always said Jesus is coming soon.”
Yes, they have and yes, Jesus is coming soon – even saying that 2000 or
even 1000 years ago, we are still right in saying ‘Jesus is coming soon’! God is timeless; whereas, we are confined to
time. Nonetheless, it is obvious by the
signs in society, as well as the signs in the heavens, that Jesus’ coming is
imminent. Not only are the prophesies
almost all have come to fulfillment, but the signs in the heavens and on the
earth are increasing. Just look into the
upcoming bloodmoons. We are on the
threshold of the greatest revival of all time, the greatest falling away of all
time, and on the verge of the tribulation (book of Revelation). It is time NOW to get right with God, because
we are at the door of eternity and there are only 2 choices – heaven or hell!
There is MORE proof (that for ages, many have tried to hide
and withhold knowledge from the public) for creation and God than there is for
evolution. Why is it easier for people
to believe in aliens, spaceships that will come to rescue us, or evoke demonic
activity, than it is to believe in the God of the Bible? We saw an awesome video last night on the
Hovind Theory (http://freehovind.com/info). A few years ago, we had
Rick Oliver of Confound the Wise Ministries (www.confoundthewise.org) come to
speak in Ashland. He was once a devout
atheist – he holds a PhD in Evolutionary Biology – who became a Christian and a
Creationist after the eruption of Mt. St. Helens.
Anyway, we watched video #8 of the series last night about
the judgment, the flood, the ice age, and the re-population of the world. Then coming to Gen. 11, we find that after
the flood, people went from living over 900 years to Peleg (v16) who only to be
2 hundred and something. As it pointed
out in the video, that something major switched about 100 years after the flood
and life spans got extremely shorter and shorter to where we have Abraham who only
lived 120 years and so on to where we are today. Pre-flood times, we had a greenhouse effect
throughout the entire world (including the artic regions) to post-flood times,
where we have extremes in weather and death came sooner to people.
Anyway, the point is, not only is our earth ‘dying’, but so
are we, due to sin – judgment MUST come, as the end of the world and humanity,
must come to an end. There is NO saving
this planet, there is NO redemption of mankind without Jesus! As II Peter 3:9 states: “The Lord is not
slack concerning His promise [the promise of His 2nd coming AND
judgment on the world], as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward
us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
We need to get over the fact that WE are NOT God, and that
God owns this planet (He created it) and He owns ALL people(because He created
them all) on this planet and therefore CAN and WILL cast judgment. As v11-12 states: “Therefore, since all these
things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy
conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God,
because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements
will melt with fervent heat?”
As the video pointed out in Noah’s time, it had never rained
before (greenhouse effect – it never needed to), but that didn’t mean it never
could! Noah preached to the people of
the imminent coming of the flood and the need for repentance – he said “it’s
going to rain and flood the earth” and the people scoffed, just as people scoff
today. Just because no one has ever
heard angels sound a trumpet in the heavens and all of God’s people (visually)
will be gathered together into the clouds (the rapture) and go to heaven (Matt.
24:31), that doesn’t mean it won’t happen!
Don’t scoff at God’s word and don’t mock God – judgment is severe for
those who do! Read all of Matt. 24 – we
have come to that time and time is running out!
