We know that the binding tie of the Bible is Jesus
Himself – as writers have spoken over the ages – and one of the messages that
prevail throughout the Old Testament, is that the physical world tried to reach
the spiritual through works; whereas, the New Testament is about the spiritual
world trying to reach through to the physical through faith. We, as physical beings, must get out of the
way of God as He creates in us even the desire to seek Him, let alone the faith
to even believe in Him. Our spirit-man
must rise up and become as one with the Father, as Jesus was one with the
Father (John 17). As that faith grows,
the desire grows, and thus the work He has set aside for us to do from the
foundations of the world, can then flow out of us. God’s blessings flow through us first, then
out to the people. We get the first
dose of grace, mercy, and blessings, but we have to be willing vessels –
willing to be broken and crushed, then remolded into God’s image – then give it
away!
In reading though Joshua 7, we find that even a little
‘sin in the camp’ (v11) will bring down the wrath of God, as well as bring us
down to where our hands are tied and we fall under the enemy’s hand. We, as God’s body – the Church – we MUST come
to Him in humility and as willing vessels to do to us as He wishes. Our hearts must (v5) ‘melt and become like water’ in His presence
if we want Him to deliver us from our enemies (spiritual warfare). We have been given ALL AUTHORITY over demons
and devils, but we cannot act upon that when we have ‘sin in the camp’. That includes the religious spirit, the
witchcraft spirit (yes, it has infiltrated the body!), the spirits of fear and
intimidation that keeps us cowered (apathy), the spirit of division
(denominational walls), and that of murder (1 John 2:9, 11, 3:15, 4:20 - he who
does not speak the truth of Jesus, hates his brother – we doom him to hell if
we do not share the life that is found in Christ) that has prevailed in body
for far too long! This must be purged out. Just as water flows and has the power to move
buildings and mountains, so too must the Spirit of God flow through us to wash
out all that is unclean. As we are
washed clean, then the Fire of God can come in (vs 22-26) and ‘lick up the
water’(1 Kings 18:38), consume, burn off the chaff; thereby, making us the
perfect Bride of Christ He is coming for very soon.
Just as God set up the 5-fold ministry within the body (Eph.
4:11 - apostles, prophets, evangelists,
shepherds and teachers), so too has the enemy set up its 5-fold counterfit in
every body of believers, in every city, every nation. As we
read through Joshua 10, we find that there were 5 kings in the valley – they
have to be destroyed in order to fulfill the call God has on our lives.
God is moving in
and through His people today, but not in the same old ways – God is doing a new
thing! We have to be ‘new wine skins
filled with new wine’ – it isn’t ‘church as usual’. Just because God moved in us 30-years ago (or
whenever) and caused nations to tremble, doesn’t mean we do things the same
way. We have to be open to this new move
of God that will bring on the greatest harvest known to man-kind.
